Jessica Walker

Profile

Jessica Walker directs the Integrated Design Program (BFA) at Parsons. She is an artist, filmmaker and illustraor. She is currently illustrating Baby Feminists (Penguin, Fall 2018), a lift-the-flap book written by Libby B.K. that takes the universal fact that everyone was once a baby and applies it to famous feminists. Jessica is a Jermone Foundation Film and Video grant recipient currently working on, “366” a documentary film in which she meets with New Yorkers on their birthday to document how this day is spent across different age groups and cultures. Her research has been supported by the National Science Foundation and the Mozilla Foundation, and focuses on pathway development and increased access to STEAM learning through partnerships between community organizations and institutions of higher education. Jessica teaches Integrative Studio within the first year program and Mentoring Through Making, a studio/semiar course that focuses on youth mentoring and personal reflection through volunteer opportunities. Jessica received her BA from the University of Virginia and her MFA from San Francisco State University.
